A winner and A Mammogram!

The winner of the SolCreations Giveaway is Melissa from chronicles of my sweet p. Please send me your address so that I can get that out to you. My email is keepersphoto{at}gmail{dot}com

On to other news, I had my first mammogram and breast ultrasound today! Yes, at age 26 :(  My grandmother had breast cancer and a masectomy and my mother has had 7 mammograms just this year alone and several surgical biopsys. She has a spot that looks extremely suspecious of cancer so they have already started her on treatment and she sees an Oncologist regularly. So when I was doing my self exam, which YOU should do monthly, I noticed a small knot on my right breast. I immediately went into panic mode. There is such a high risk in my family that I wanted to be certain it was nothing. So I spoke with my primary care doctor and she thought it was best to go ahead with the testing just to rule out everything. So yesterday was my appointment. Boy was I nervous!!! Not nervous for the testing, but nervous for the results.

So yesterday I go to the appointment and they give me a lovely robe to wear and they came and got me to do the mammogram. She starts and it was going fine, just a lot of pressure. Then because I was having problems they wanted to get some really good views of that spot. WOW did those positions hurt. (Not to scare anyone from getting a mammogram) but they said that because I am young the breast are more dense and can be more painful. They were RIGHT! So she finished that up and she said she was going to take them to the radiologist to see what he thinks. She comes back in and says he wants to do an ultrasound of the right side. Once again, I go into panic mode! So another lady came into to take me to ultrasound. She begins and its not to bad then she starts really pushing and the pain got worse and worse and worse. So finally she finished what felt like a 30 minute ultrasound that was in all actuallity was only a few minutes. She said let me take this to him(the radiologist) and said she would be right back. She came back in and said...He DIDNT see anything and I could go!!! What a RELIEF! I am so glad that I had it all done though, now I can sleep a little better at night. (did you make it this far lol)

So that was my exciting day yesterday! Please click on the giveaway links in the top right sidebar to enter a great giveaway!

  1. LOL I am cracking up at that photo cartoon!! Hilarious! And it's exactly how I felt after having a mammagram, too. I too, found a spot on one of my breasts during an exam that was super painful. I went through the ultrasounds and the mamagram and ended up passing out twice from the pain. OUCH! My results came back negative, too, thank goodness and turns out it was a cyst that supposedly is common in women my age (28).
So glad to hear yours was negative as well!! :)

If you get the chance, please vote for my daughter in the Cozy Cap Creations photo contest on FB. Click on the link and "like" her picture. Alexa L. Photo #5 Thank you!!
